Brussels 52nd Antique Fair

Antiques Fair in Brussels is a treasure trove of Oceanic art, Tribal art, Oriental art, silver, antique jewellery, furniture and works of art from the middle Ages to the 20th century. It is the largest antiques fair in Belgium and is a must for art lovers. The event will kick out on January 19 and will reign through January 28, 2007.

The Royal Chamber of Belgian Antiques will organize this annual event. It will take place in the large halls of the mail sorting station of ‘Tour & Taxis,’ a historical building and a wonderful example of Belgian industrial heritage, located along the Willebroek canal.

Every year, the event pulls crowd and dealers from different corners of the world. The 130 participants represent different countries such as Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, England, Italy, Luxemburg, Monaco, The Netherlands and Switzerland. Top dealers display their wares in the newly-regenerated Tour & Taxis district of Brussels. This year, the newcomers such as La Galerie Darga & Lansberg, Fabery de Jonge, Galerie Française, Janssens van der Maelen, Leysen, Vrain, Papott, Rooryck, Nelis, La Pipe, Bastien Art and Blue Elephant are also invited.

The sumptuous exposition showcases antiques ranging from weaponry to African and Oriental art, silverware, jewellery, furniture, ceramics, chinaware, porcelain, engravings, drawings, paintings, sculptures, carpets, tapestries and books. Experts including museum curators and scientists ensure quality and authenticity of the rigorous collection of the art.

So, if you’ve an eye for exquisite and distinguished art, Brussels is the right place and January 19 to January 28 is the right time for you to have a look at some of the most awaited event of your type. Accommodation hardly matters to the art buffs as there are some very economical hotels available for backpackers such as Queen Anne, Vendome and Catalonia Forum Art.
